San Mango sul Calore, comune irpino che il disastroso terremoto dell’80 devastò completamente, oggi ha un nuovo tessuto abitativo ed economico, è rinato dalle rovine nel suo contesto di dolci rilievi che digradano fino al fiume Calore. Il paesaggio offre una natura incontaminata, colture di olivi e alberi da frutta, distese vitate per lo più ad Aglianico considerando che questa zona rientra nell’areale Docg Taurasi.
Qui un’interessante realtà, l’azienda vitivinicola della famiglia Romano “Antico Castello” un nome in ricordo del piccolo castello feudale perso per la calamità che travolse il paese, unica cantina di San Mango sul Calore che sin dai primi anni del 2000 si è impegnata per una produzione di qualità. In realtà sono i figli Francesco e Chiara ad occuparsi dell’azienda in tutte le sue sfaccettature, con grande trasporto e soprattutto con la voglia di crescere.
L’azienda “Antico Castello” si avvale di impianti all’avanguardia, di spazi ben distribuiti per le varie operazioni di cantina, una bella bottaia e si completa con la sala degustazione che affaccia sui vigneti lasciando ammirare la valle del Calore.
L’azienda “Antico Castello”, cura i suoi vini sin dalla vigna con la consulenza dell’enologo Carmine Valentino, sono ben cinque le etichette: Falanghina, Fiano, Greco, Aglianico e Taurasi, inoltre produce Distillato di Fichi, Liquore di Aglianico aromatizzato all’amarena e un prelibato Vino Cotto artigianale. L’Antico Castello, nella persona di Francesco e Chiara Romano, è la risposta a quanti denigrano la forza d’intraprendere, la coscienza professionale dei giovani, la loro voglia di essere parte integrande del nostro territorio.
